This survey link is to gather residents’ opinions of the Lancaster Historical Society and thoughts for the future of the organization.

The Lancaster Historical Society (LHS) is responsible for the acquisition, conservation and display of historic items significant to the Town of Lancaster and region.  For over 50 years LHS has amassed a tremendous amount of material spanning every period of Lancaster’s existence.  One of the most important pieces of the collection is the Wilder-Holton house.  It is not only special due to it being the first multi-story structure in Coos County but also because it acts as a museum, housing the Historical Society’s collection.

To evaluate the existing direction of LHS and develop a path for its future, the Board of Directors established an Advisory Committee made up of current Board members and interested Lancaster residents.  The Committee created this survey to help guide them through a comprehensive strategic planning process.  The completed strategic plan will be used to guide the Board on decisions concerning renovations to the Wilder-Holton House Museum, future programs and displays about Lancaster area history and Board recruitment and retention.  Your answers to the questions and any other information you provide will be very important to determine where efforts should be focused.

If you do not wish to complete the online version, paper copies of the survey are also available at the Lancaster Town Office and Weeks Memorial Library.  Completed surveys can be returned to those locations or during Town Meeting at the Historical Society’s display in the Town Hall auditorium.  All answers will be kept confidential.
