This survey link is to gather residents’ opinions of the Lancaster Historical Society and thoughts for the future of the organization.
The Lancaster Historical Society (LHS) is responsible for the acquisition, conservation and display of historic items significant to the Town of Lancaster and region. For over 50 years LHS has amassed a tremendous amount of material spanning every period of Lancaster’s existence. One of the most important pieces of the collection is the Wilder-Holton house. It is not only special due to it being the first multi-story structure in Coos County but also because it acts as a museum, housing the Historical Society’s collection.
To evaluate the existing direction of LHS and develop a path for its future, the Board of Directors established an Advisory Committee made up of current Board members and interested Lancaster residents. The Committee created this survey to help guide them through a comprehensive strategic planning process. The completed strategic plan will be used to guide the Board on decisions concerning renovations to the Wilder-Holton House Museum, future programs and displays about Lancaster area history and Board recruitment and retention. Your answers to the questions and any other information you provide will be very important to determine where efforts should be focused.
If you do not wish to complete the online version, paper copies of the survey are also available at the Lancaster Town Office and Weeks Memorial Library. Completed surveys can be returned to those locations or during Town Meeting at the Historical Society’s display in the Town Hall auditorium. All answers will be kept confidential.

FREE Home Energy Workshop-Please consider attending this free workshop to learn more about making your home more comfortable and energy efficient. Thursday, 12/7 at 6:30PM at Lancaster Town Hall.
Due to NH Motor Vehicles implementing their new driver licensing system (see Press Release below), the Town of Lancaster will NOT be processing any motor vehicle transactions Friday, October 6th thru Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.
Through a generous grant from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund and support by the Northern Forest Center, the Town of Lancaster is creating a program to inform the community on the benefits of making their homes more energy efficient and the resources to assist them. As an initial step to gauge the community's knowledge of energy efficiency and the level of their homes' efficiency we have developed a short survey.
Over the next two years of the program we hope to not only increase the awareness of the benefits of making homes more energy efficient but also facilitate the completion of home energy audits, efficiency upgrades and wood pellet boiler installations in homes around town. A final survey will be redistributed with the hope of an increase in respondents knowledge and utilization of home energy efficiency upgrades.
Please click on the link below to bring you to a short SurveyMonkey survey. Please also share this with your friends and neighbors. One lucky person, if they provide contact information, will win a small prize from local businesses.
For questions on this program please contact Lancaster's new Energy Advisor, John Ahern, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Planning/Zoning Coordinator, Benjamin S. Gaetjens-Oleson, at email@example.com.
