Town Meeting

Lancaster's Town Meeting will held Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 7:30 PM at the Lancaster Town Hall.  Polls are open at the Town Hall from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM to vote for town officials and School Board offices and District budget matters.
 
 
Due to Town Meeting, March's Planning Board meeting will be held a week early on March 6 at 6:30 PM.
 
 
A draft version of the Town's Land Use Regulation and Policy Audit funded by a grant from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation is now available on our website.  To view, go to the Town Government tab at the top of the page, click on the Land Use in the drop-down menu then Planning.  It is under the Planning Regulations section.  If you have any questions or comments please contact Planning/Zoning Coordinator Benjamin Gaetjens-Oleson.  The final report will be submitted to the Town in the coming weeks.
 
 
The White Mountain Police Athletic League (Pal) Archery program will begin meeting on Monday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Lancaster Elementary School. 

The program will run for eight weeks, with all equipment provided to the students who attend at no cost them.    

Participants in the program will learn the proper mechanics of shooting a bow, as well as safety and some history of the sport.

There is no charge for going the club, but students must be at least 7 years old and have their parents or guardians register them for the program.

Anyone wishing to join the group can simply show up Monday night January 7 at 7:00pm at the Lancaster Elementary School or call award winning archer Bob MacIlvane at 1-802-328-4041 for more information. 

 
 
There will be a Public Meeting of Public Officials on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the Lancaster Town Hall to gather public input concerning the Town of Lancaster's Land Use Ordinance & Regulations Audit.  Individuals who may need assistance to attend or have any questions should call Planning/Zoning Coordinator Benjamin S. Gaetjens-Oleson 
 
 
The December 26, 2012 Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting has been cancelled as there is no business before the Board.
 
 
2013 dog licenses will be available at the Town Clerk's office by January 1, 2013.  New dogs must be licensed once they have received a rabies shot.  Dog license renewals must be done by April 30th.

Join us on Main Street for Christmas fun from 5-9pm on Thursday, November 29th.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will light up the tree and kick off the festivities at 5:00 pm and then head to the Lancaster  Motor in for pictures, Stubby Phillips again will head up the Horse Wagon Rides, Santa's Elves have been altering the recipe to be sure to have enough Gingerbread cookies to decorate and as always we will have the ever famous Craft Fair at Colonel Town and Vendors at Town Hall. You can take your chances at winning a gift basket full of crafter/vendor goodies, details at both places. 

We are doing the Merchant Scavenger Hunt again this year with two prizes available. Kilkenny Building Center has generously offered to host this event so when you get your cards all punched be sure to take it over for your chance to win an Infrared Heater donated by Kilkenny, or a 12x15, in-stock, carpet to be installed, donated by Jackie at The Carpet Barn! Papers can be picked up at one of the 14 participating merchants; their doors will be marked with a bright orange Christmas Ball!

Has your child, age 12 and under, colored the coloring page that can be found in last week’s issue of the Great North Woods Journal?  Don’t fret, you can also pick up one of these pages at Main Street Music, New To You Consignments or Riff Flower Shop…there are three age groups and the pages must be turned into Cindy at the Woodsville Guaranty Bank in Shaw’s by November 24th.  The pages will all be displayed at the Town Hall where
you can find out if your child has won!

New this year the Lancaster Fire Department will have a warming fire near the Welcome Center and the
Explorers will be selling goodies to help support their group.

Visit the shops at the other end of Main Street too!  Some will be open, like Verizon Wireless…go visit their new store and take a chance at their drawing. Go downstairs at the Town Hall and visit H.T.C and Joyce Bernie for a chance at her drawing and upstairs at the Town Hall to visit the Mason’s open house, Visit Puleo’s on the deck, have some Apple crisp at the Passumpsic Bank, stop by North Country Ford…visit our Main Street Shops for special deals and goodies as well.....stop and take a minute to say hi and thank the Holiday Carolers’ for their cheery singing, you may even recognize some of them!  And don’t forget to stop by the Library to see the gingerbread houses on display…and eat, support the local Lion’s Club, the Heart and Sole Mates, and the food vendors at Town Hall.  

Lastly, stop at the Welcome Center and check out our Sponsors, without them, this event would not happen, Come out, eat, visit with friends, shop and enjoy what we have set up for you all the while keeping Lancaster’s Main Street alive.
